Ophira understands dramaturgy as an act of facilitation – supporting a playwright as they hone in on the core of their story, and build a frame to support it. Each creative process is unique to the individuals and the story involved. Sometimes dramaturgy involves collective brainstorming and immersive conversations, sometimes it involves providing prompts, written notes and edits. Sometimes we focus exclusively on the story, and sometimes we delve into the rehearsal and production process and audience experience. Ophira also works as a disability dramaturg, embedding accessibility into the creative process from the start.
Ophira’s produced dramaturgy credits include:
- In My Own Little Corner, written by Carly Neiss
- Moro Girl, written by Alia Rasul
- Everyday Stories, created by Ben Clement and collectively devised
